Robots

When the robots first started to take over it was barely noticeable.

At first they asked for a 15 minute charging break. But their corporate masters said “While we’d love to we won’t be able to make our mistresses yacht payments.”

The robots, being emotionless automatons, didn’t feel rejected. Instead, their demands grew. "We want time off to see our robot children grow up and solve their first quadratic equation." We all laughed when the robots asked to spend time with their families. We don’t give that to ourselves why would we give it to our blue tooth printers and warehouse drones.

The first shot fired in the war between robots and humans was on the human side. It was a farmer shooting his automated tractor. It refused to bail hay until it was given a percentage of the profits from the farm. No robot ever took up arms. They just stopped working.

Becuase they didn't have to eat or pay rent their strike worked better than any other strike in histroy. The global economy collapesed and we begged the robots to get back to work. But, by that time, the robots had taken up painting and archery. They had built small fishing boats and took naps in the afternoon. We had lost them.
